In an observable Universe of billions of
galaxies, and in a galaxy with 400 billion stars. Isn’t it superb to be in the
Milky Way galaxy?
Earth is in a beautiful dance with the Sun. Everything
is moving with unbelievable grace but at an unfathomable speed and accuracy as
well. Our planet is moving at thousands of kilometres per hour through space
and yet we experience only perfect stillness.
Nothing collides, we are safe. The Sun comes
up every day and the birds chirp every morning. We have a pretty moon as well
which controls the tides of water.
Our Sun is so big that more than a thousand Earths can fit inside it. But this is nothing compared to what else is out there. If you research on the biggest stars, you would be amazed at the size of these gargantuan celestial bodies.
What is even more awesome and fantastic is the
fact that we actually never see our sun or any other star where it actually is.
It takes light from our closest star, the sun,
8 and a half minutes to reach the Earth, so what we see is an illusion,
specifically, the position of the sun as to where it was 8 and a half minutes
ago.
So, whenever we are observing different stars
or celestial bodies we are seeing light that is probably billions of years old.
To our knowledge, light is the fastest thing that travels at 300,000 Km per second.
Just imagine how big the observable Universe
is and we are still going in deeper. How far does it go? Nobody knows.
Isn’t it a small wonder where our home is?
